I am a clinical associate professor at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. My books include Learning First, Technology Second; Toys to Tools: Connecting Student Cell Phones to Education; Cell Phones in the Classroom: A Practical Guide for the K-12 Educator; and Help Your Child Learn with Cell Phones and Web 2.0. I’ve also published numerous articles and book chapters on new technologies and education in prominent publications such as Education Leadership, Scholastic.com, and Learning and Leading with Technology.
I’m a member of COSN’s advisory committees on mobile learning and emerging technologies, and I do consulting work and have been a featured and keynote speaker at conferences all over the United States and Canada. I’m the founder and coordinator of the 4T Virtual Conference, a free conference for practitioners that occurs every May. I am also the creator of the Triple E Framework for effective teaching with digital technologies.
I’m a former social studies and computer technology teacher, and I spent four years as a technology coordinator and integration specialist in Ohio.
